#5 - Choosing Your Own Adventure

#5 - Choosing Your Own Adventure

The big question is whether you are going to say a hearty β€˜yes’ to your adventure
— Joseph Campbell

This week we tackle the challenge of saying "No!" and how to harness the immense power that lies within such a choice.  Whether it's opportunities, commitments, projects or even simple invitations it is common norm in our "civilized" society to say "yes", to accept and to accommodate other people's needs, wishes and wants within our life and schedule. However as we do so we see our time, our energy, and most of all our own free will, dwindling. Losing ourselves in the quest to please others is not uncommon. What is uncommon is to live in our own integrity, choosing the truth of who we are over this default need to please and setting ourselves free to choose a life under our own terms. For it is in this "hearty yes" to our own adventure that lies our greatest gift to others, for as we set ourselves free of their expectations we also show the way, inspiring and empowering them to do the same.

#4 - Intermission

#4 - Intermission

"Pause, take a moment to reflect and have yourself an intermission."

I'ts been nearly 6 months since German woke up with the dreadful feeling of "11 years has gone by and I've done nothing." Since then he's met Neto, recruited him as his podcast co-host (and reluctant "mentor") and started his own Creative Journey toward purpose and fulfillment. So Neto suggests a "time out", introducing reflection and contemplation as important components of the personal growth process. It takes time to adopt new habits and turn them into our new M.O. and as we do so the only way out of eventual complacency is to establish check-points, contemplative sessions in between our productive periods of growth to take stock of our progress, evolution and our newly gained territory. By weighing the effectiveness of our actions we can further refine our next steps.

#3 - Focusing On What We Focus On

#3 - Focusing On What We Focus On

Neto and German discuss how our focus, and habitual lack of it, plays a major role in our life as we go on living it. Through a simple practice of deliberate focus German sets out to explore that which he wants to focus on in his life and pursuits, as well as that which he wants to focus out. Using only a piece of paper, a pen and 1 hour of uninterrupted "me" time German dives deep into the core of his being, coming back with his own insights and a new blueprint for living and his creative pursuits.
